Save the Boobies!

This morning I got to walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Kansas City. Thousands of people showed up for the 5k walk/run. I was impressed by the number of people. Tears came to my eyes a couple of times as I read the walkers' shirts that said who they were walking in memory or celebration of. Some people had pictures of them with their moms, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmas, and even fathers. I have absolutely come to the conclusion that cancer sucks.

Cydney works with me at Payless and is the one that let me know about the race. I'm so glad she did because it was so much fun! Our team Payless shirts said "Kick Some Asphalt." Love it.

There was a HUGE crowd. During the race, someone told us there were 46,000 people that participated. I didn't know this until right before the race but the survivors wear pink shirts as they walk. It was so inspiring to see them out! Some of my favorite shirts were, "Treasure Yer Chest", "Bikers for Boobies", "Save the Boo Bees" (with pictures of bees saying "boo"), and of course "Survivor."

(On a totally separate note, whoever said "don't cry over spilled milk" has never had to clean up a half gallon of spilled milk off of a freshly mopped floor. Sheesh.)

I think I like Treasure yer chest the best. Duh, cancer sucks!

I think it is perfectly reasonable to cry over spilled milk. I have done it many a time. It's the worst when you've just gotten to work and you spill your whole glass in your lap and all over your car seat. It sucks, too.
