Don't be stupid, be a smartie. Come and join the Nazi Party.

I went to the Starlight Theater in Kansas City last night to watch The Producers. It is an outdoor theater and it was a beautiful night. Add a hysterical play and you've got yourself a perfect combination. Seriously, that play is so funny. Mel Brooks is a genius. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you watch it. The movie with Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, and Uma Therman is worth the rental. I can't remember all of the lines I laughed at but one of my favorite scenes was when Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom went to Roger de Bris' house to ask him to direct Springtime for Hitler. Camen Ghia is the assistant and his character is probably one of my faves. And actually, the man who plays Carmen in the movie, starred as Leo Bloom in the play I went to. Pretty awesome, right?

If you watch from minute 3:15 to 4:45 it gives a pretty good summary of the play.

And the first 30 seconds of this clip probably had me laughing the most.

Before we went to the play, we went to a Japanese steak house. I forgot how fun it is to watch them cook the food in front of you. I guess I was in a seafood mood because I was actually enjoying the shrimp (though I didn't catch it when the cook threw it into my mouth, as per tradition) and I tried a sushi roll that would have been delicious except for the sauce that nearly burned my mouth off. All in all it was a wonderful evening.
