NYE!

We started New Year's Eve off with a yummy dinner at Bahama Breeze and partied mormon-style with some non-alcoholic Bahamaritas. They were fantastic! One of my favorite parts about that restaurant was that our waiter looked exactly like Carlos Boozer. Seriously, the guy could have been his twin. He of course didn't know who Boozer is so I told him to go look it up. I wish I could be there when he looks at Boozer's face and then calls his mom to see if he has a long lost twin.Since one doesn't live near such an awesome city everyday, I decided to face my fears of drunken parties and street wanderers and make my way to the city for a fantastic New Year's Eve. A "source" told us that there was going to be a party at Grant Park. This happens to be the park where President-Elect Obama gave his acceptance speech so I expected it to be kind of a big deal. Well, we showed up and not only was nothing going on there, the whole area was deserted. We weren't deterred though because we are always up for an adventure. We hopped on a bus (with the rest of Chicago) and spilled out at Navy Pier.

Waiting for the train. Me, Emily, Blake, Geoff, and Jesse.

On the bus with the rest of Chi-town. Blake looks a little scared of the crowd.

We made it to Navy Pier!

We wandered around for awhile trying to keep warm until the big countdown. It was so much fun to watch the fireworks on the lake and listen to the music. Not so much fun was the couple making out in front of me. Let's face it, I was just jealous.

Emily, me, and Jessica with the fireworks in the background. Sorta.

We ran back to the buses and squeezed on, again with the rest of Chicago. We took the train back to our cars and then everyone came over to my apartment for a sleepover. Yes, we, with an average age of 24, had a sleepover. It's been a long time since I slept on the floor and I think I shall never do it again. We had an awesome time though. Arriving at my place around 2:30, we watched a classic, Never Been Kissed and then those that could still keep their eyes open (obviously not me) watched Meet the Robinsons. We woke up around 6 a.m. and got stuff out for breakfast. Don't ask me why because around 6:02, we went back to sleep. We "officially" woke up around 9 a.m. to find one member or our party missing. She left while we were sleeping and we were all so zonked, that we had no idea. Oh well, the show must go on.

Jess and Emily on my comfy floor.

Jess and Blake cookin' up a storm. Like the apron?

Seriously so much food!

Apple strussel muffins. Too bad they didn't eat all of them because guess who did once they left?

Blake didn't want want people to know he slept with a bunch of girls so he tried to cover himself up. Sorry Blake! Your secret's out.

We proceeded to make a wonderful breakfast with pancakes (my first time ever making them), eggs, hash browns, muffins, bacon, fruit, and juice. It was a meal fit for kings! After eating, we of course went back to sleep. I think we finally called it a night around noon on New Year's Day. My three drunken friends stumbled out to their cars and I stumbled back to my couch where I continued to sleep. It was a wonderful night and I hope yours was just as exciting.

I feel I must defend my honor here. The word "sleepover" is tossed around a lot these days, but our adventure can hardly be classified as such, since the TV was technically on all night. It was more of an extended movie night. Second, they tempted me with bacon people. BACON. Third, I wouldn't wear an apron if I didn't look so hot in one.

You have actually lived this long without ever making pancakes? Who are you?

You didn't watch Meet the Robinsons? I'm proud of you for noticing the Boozer twin. You should post a picture.
