So I have this car. It's 7.5 years old. It has about 55,000 miles on it. It's been good to me. It's gotten me from a to b with little to no difficulty. That is until right about the time I decided to move here. Less than a week before I was supposed to drive to the Midwest, the fuel pump died. After I got here and experienced my first rainstorm, I found my passenger floor completely soaked with still a small puddle. Not long after that, I came back to my driver side door smashed in. A few months after that, my key would not turn in my ignition. Ugh. I had had it with the car but not quite ready for the purchase of something this monumental. (Yes, I can move 1500 miles away from my family but I apparently I am not ready to part with my first car.) Well last month when my check engine light turned on, I was ready to throw my car away. I took my car in to find out what was wrong but it seemed nobody could actually fix it unless I gave them another $100-150 just to find out what was wrong let alone the cost of the repair. This stressed me out because I am sick of paying to repair this thing and every time I try to save money, it ends up getting dumped into my car. I started praying for a miracle. Please let the light turn off. I don't have time for this right now. Please.
Well then something miraculous happened. The light turned off. I nearly cried tears of joy. But why was I so surprised? I mean this is not the first time my 7.5 year old car has healed itself. Exhibit A: Probably while I was learning to drive, I scratched it pretty good taking a curb too closely. Well, after I had to get it fixed when somebody else bumped into me, this scratch was gone as well. (Later found out my dad had the mechanic fix that too but kind of miraculous for a little while.) Exhibit B: I lost a hubcap one winter on a nasty pothole. Drove the ghetto mobile around for awhile and one day looked out the window to see it had grown a new hubcap. The jury is still out on this miracle but all votes are leaning towards my mom's doing. (PS-when Austin called me on Sunday he asked if I had a spare tire on my car or had lost a hubcap at one point last spring. I said yes, why? He said he looked up our house on google maps and there was the ghetto mobile in all of its glory.) Exhibit C: The check engine light has turned off. Miraculous, no?
I guess if my car can heal itself a few times, I should be willing to pay to repair it the rest of the time. I just wish it would heal the dent in the driver side door.

With your luck the check engine light is still on but the bulb has burned out. :-) (See President Uchtdorf's most recent priesthood session talk.)
7.5 years old and only 55,000 miles? Sounds like the car of a 90 year old. Me thinks you need to get out more:)
Sometimes they cycle, it will shut off for a while, once it starts blinking you are in trouble.
